Join us for an evening with two creative lead guitarists, singing the great classics of the Blues, R&B, New Orleans festival sounds, and Tom Yates originals!
Tom Yates draws inspiration from the rhythmic groove and down-home voice of American roots music, having performed and recorded across genres including rock, country, blues, R&B, soul, Motown, funk, folk, New Orleans, bluegrass, and gospel. His award-winning compositions in rock and country have been featured on TV dramas, and in 2008, he was named "New England King of the Blues" by Guitar Centers of America. Yates has shared the stage with artists such as Charles Neville, Ray Davies of The Kinks, and The Monkees, among others, and toured throughout the U.S. and Canada. He has performed regularly at venues like Boston’s Hatch Shell, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and the Acton Jazz Café.
Michael A. Duke, a professional guitarist and vocalist since 1973, leads Mike Duke & the SoulTwisters and has performed internationally in Blues, R&B, Rock, and Jazz. He has headlined festivals in France and was featured on the "S.S. Norway Rhythm & Blues Cruise." As musical director for Johnny Adams (1991-1998) and Mighty Sam McClain (1993-1994), Duke toured globally and performed at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. He’s shared the stage with Van Morrison, Boz Scaggs, and Trombone Shorty, among others, and released the album "Soul Twistin'!" with his band. Duke continues to record and perform with local artists.
