BJ Magoon & Driving Sideways play an up-tempo mix of Americana, Roots/Country Rock, Swing, Blues & Soul music for folks who dance East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Shag/ Carolina Beach, Two-Step, Lindy, Jitter-Bug, Freestyle, and more.
Join BJ and the band for a Dance at Sanctuary in Maynard. BJ starting playing for dances for decades, starting as a teenager, performing for Acton-Boxborough parties. Decades of dance were to follow.
In the 90s, for several years, he played for Instructor Sue Cath’s West Coast Swing Dance weekly at The Sit ’n Bull Pub, just down the road from Sanctuary in Maynard.
News of this Dance spread throughout the New England Swing Dance Communities and soon his band began playing for H.O.S.S. (“Hooked On Swing Dance Society’) in Northampton, Mass, “1st Friday Swing Dance” in Hartford, Conn.; the “Shoreline Swing Dance” in E. Lyme, Conn.; and The Boston Swing Dance Network’s Monthly Swing Dance in Watertown, Mass.
Driving Sideways has performed regularly for Alan Cormier’s “dance2swing Swing Dance” in Leominster, Mass. from the 2002 until COVID hit in 2020.
